The Show 2011

Aloha!
Just wanted to write up about this even though its nearly a year late..
:D
This was from the first show I ever took part in organised by The Signature and Fashion Beauty Bug (Click Link to Open) since it was the first time I decided to work together with one of my close friends, Sonam Limbu. And we worked up a concept of 'Tough Girls' Combining Tough With Feminine.Using materials such as leather with more flowly fabric like chiffon on silhouette you would consider feminine.

We created 6 over all, and here are a few pictures, more to be added soon.

The Designers.

Sorry this is short I just wanted to post this up as soon as possible.

Rochester

Since I am doing an internal progression on to the UCA Rochester from Canterbury, I was one of many called in for a day to listen and learn about the course a bit more. And with that I got to meet and had the chance to talk with a previous student, Raffaele Ascione (Click Link to Know More About Him) who has recently showcased his collection at London Fashion Week.

A down to earth guy, I was pleased to know that he teaches at UCA Rochester.Meaning I will have someone to talk to without panicking around like a headless chicken, not saying the other teachers won't be there :D. His piece was bought by Lady Gaga which helped him a lot and since then he has worked with her a few times.

(Photos from Website http://www.raffaeleascione.com )

These three garments stood out the most from his latest collection. Inspiration taken from his favorite sweatshirt that apparently he is obsessed with and taking ideas from the 70s.

Just quick snaps I took while waiting for my portfolio tutorial. There were some amazing work around which I could not stop staring at.

Finally this is just a photograph that I was in love with so much I have it as my lock screen, The front cover of DAZED April magazine. Givenchy, their Bollywood style sorta jewllery. Such strong pieces which I would love to get my hands on. Wonder how much they weigh? Would even pierce my nose for those things!! Don't exactly know where I would wear them but DAMN!! Right?

Let It Begin!

I started my Final Major Project last week and I feel like I have done NOTHING!
Finally getting what I want to do I thought would be quite easy but NOPE! I have a bad habit of looking at other people work and then wanting to kill myself instead of feeling motivated. They all seem to have bloody brilliant ideas! Ah another problem in the room is there is about 50-60 people CRAMPED in a tiny room, we literally have a quarter  of a table, which results to working out in the corridor which I don't mind but sometime I would like to be able to put stuff on my desk without everyone elses work piling on top of it!

Anyways! Decided to walk around the room and take some snaps.
Jades Workstation- Textile Student- I can tell shes doing something with Birds! :]

Jacks Work Station- Fashion Design Student- Florence and the Machines, Just one of their songs.
He has awesome ideas which I can't wait to see!

Sophie's Workstation- Shoe Design- Shes created amazing shoes in her past project so interested to see what she will do for her final one. Im not really sure what her ideas are though. It might be clear to you :D

I forgot her name :D but Textile Student- Japan!

Finally My space, see how small, this is just a few images I've collected to give me some ideas and get my brain going, would say that I don't have enough! But I kinda know where im trying to head towards to does it matter?

DIY Lamp Shade

My Last Post of the night.
I started on this diy project about 2 years ago I hadn't finished it, and it was my friend Chhimmi who reminded me and gave my the idea to make it into a post. so this all OVERDUE! But I've done it now!
You can see from the image below, the little thing at the back of the lampshade was where I had left it, I turned it so you can see what I had left to do!
Sorry ALL THE PICTURES I HAVE ON THIS POST WAS TAKEN FROM MY PHONE FROM THE CAMERA! Will update it with the good quality ones if I can be bothered. :D No judging!
Anyways, the lampshade was creamy and DULL so I bought a 2 meter white binding tape for the edges of the lampshade top and bottom with help of my handy glue gun.

The material I used was white felt I had laying around [plus its cheaper!]. I cut it into squares first, all variable in sizes but not too big or too small about one and a half inches? Or something around that size.

Then I cut the squares into circles, it was a PAIN! I think that reminded me why I never got back to it! After that I placed the circles by folding, pushing, and sticking it on with the glue gun, making sure its even all around because you do tend to build it up so much that it can become thicker in one area than the other. After a few hours, it should end up like THIS!
TADA!
You can see some areas went a bit haywire BUT it is done..not really I have a small patch left somewhere at the back where I ran out of the felt circles.
It gives you a petal/flower effect. I've seen it on bags, T-shirts so you can try that if you don't want to jazz up a piece of lampshade. Use different fabric and colours to make it more interesting!

Paper Patterns

Thought I would just post this up quick before I forget.
I found some paper patterns in a charity shop for 20p each (this was like a few months ago), I have never really used a paper patterns so when I saw them I wasn't sure if I should get them or not. Well I have tried in Uni but I don't know if its the same. Anyways! There were LOADS but I picked out these FOUR. [Sorry The Photograph is a bit NAFF I took it from my phone from the camera :D]
Anyways, I am planning to make something from the second pattern soon a nice cover up sorta thing? Good for the summer! I don't know what material yet, something flowly? Lol. Might change the design as I go or it might all go horribly wrong. Hm. I don't know I see it in my head that it will be fine, will probably look more like a dressing robe or something like that but I just want a long light weight cover up that I can just pop on if I am going somewhere on top of my summery outfit rather than something even like a short denim jacket which will probably be everywhere this summer, I don't know why (THEY ARE FINE) but sometimes I find it to be a heavy sort of thing that makes me uncomfortable, so I wanna make sure I have something nice! If I find it easy enough to make I try and make some more from MORE fabrics maybe even try to make it from a heavier, thicker fabric with lining and all that sorta thing for the evening? I like that it looks more like a quarter sleeve rather than a full sleeve.

[These are the Four that I picked up]
Others that caught my eye were-The Jacket from the first Pack, The Shirt thing [They all look sorta similar so kind need to look more into that]from the third Pack And I think it was the Jacket on the right hand corner from the last Pack that interested me. A boyish silhouette .

Some Inspirational Images from Asos. Kinda like what I would like to make. I guess the pattern I have is a but different but I think with the choice of material and colour it should turn our okay.

This I took just now, Ive collected a few more, and they're all squished inside :D Need to find a better place to put them!

Dream a Little Dream for Me.

Decided I would create a new blog which I will UPDATE more often. I was drifting around YouTube as you do and found a video for Dream Catchers. I have always loved them! And thought why not try and make one? I TRIED with a simple bangle and some strings I had laying around in my drawer.
It was going well until things started to unravel and I got things in a knot. ¬ ¬. Was not pleased but at least I know how to make on now.

Here Is My Trial Version Lets Say.

I am hoping next time I attempt to make on I shall put some beads and feathers on, if its still intact of course and turn it into necklaces #diy Right in time for summer. Better get collecting on nice feathers! Not bright ones though....would prefer white, creams, browns sorta thing. The one I tried making I used flat cream string? Thread? I don't know what its called I got  roll of it from a charity shop for 40p BARGAIN! Used it because I don't have any leather. Ill post an update if I succeed to make one and maybe do a OOTD? Maybeeeee. Might Be a While. But for Summer, you guys should definitely give it a go! If you aren't much of a Do It Yourself person then just find/get a dream catcher thread a chain through and BOOM a necklace! if its a shorter chain maybe you can use it can hang it onto a bag? Would make it interesting!
Sorry this is just a short and quick post.
