Alu Nimki =]

Aloha Darlings!
I know that this is a completely random post. And will probably be a few more coming your way soon =D
I am no Cook but I love to do it anyways.HehEheheheheh.
Anyways me and my friends drool over Alu Nimki. Whenever we get to eat some it's gone within 5 seconds. But I think obviously the best tasting on can only be found in Nepal. I remember walking down the road from my house every afternoon while I was on holiday there to just get my hands on the alu nimki served on a bit of news paper and a card spoon.
THE BEST! ARGHH!!!

And while here although you can buy alu nimki in some Nepalese restaurants and cafes now, it really doesn't taste the same to me. So I asked my lovely mum for the recipe so that I can try it myself. :D
It really wasn't too difficult. Now I prefer the one I make at home rather than buying it when im out.

So erm.. thought Id share it with you guys as well!
My mums friend who makes the most AWESOMEST nimki in the world always sends me some when she is making them. And I finish eating it the day I get it! I regret it after wards...
I think the longest and difficult part in making the alu nimki would be the nimki...bloody mixing and cutting and frying. I just burn more than others, some are waaaaay thicker than others so now I usually tend to eat when im sent some nimki. All in all it takes me about 30 mins to get all done and ready to eat. Without making my own nimki of course. One of the easiest food thing ever!!
I got sent some more a few days ago and decided to take photos as I went this time for this post. Its all gone now... :(

ANYWAYS HERE WE GO!! -

INGREDIENTS-

* Nimki Obviously.  Make Your Own or Buy Some From a Shop?

* Potatoes Boiled and Lightly Mashed. Use About 3 I Would Say.

* Chopped Onion (preferably red), Chilli and Coriander.

* 3 Tablespoons of  Plain White Flour. I Think You Actually Use Some Other Type of Flour But Since I Didn't Have Any Plain White Flour Seemed To Work Fine.

* Teaspoon of Garlic and Ginger Paste. Which most of already have in the kitchen.

I Don't Know What The Actual Name is So Ill Just Say Masala. Jeera Masala? I Think? Mine Just Has The Masala, Chilli Powder and Black Salt All Mixed Together.

* And Just Colouring. Optional.

* Oh And SALT!

* And also would say have about 1 and a half cup of boiled water ready! Just makes things easier when its hot already.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat Up a Pan/Pot.

After Heated for a Few Minutes, Add The Flour And Keep It Moving So It Doesn't Burn.

Add The Half a Teaspoon Colouring and Salt Now. Mix Together.

Add Teaspoon of Garlic and Ginger Paste. MIX!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slowly Add The Boiled Water and Keep Stirring Till All The Lumps Go Away.

Afterwards Add The Mashed Potatoes. and Mix!!!

Will Look Like This. Allow to Cool for a Bit.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Get Nimki Ready in Bowl.

Add the Potato Thing.

Then Add The Chilli, Onion, Coriander and Masala.

Oh Then You can add some lemon juice for more NOM. Add More Salt If You Need To.

NOM!

Living Goddess!

Aloha Bubbles!

After weeks of no sleep, Its finally OVER!!!
The private exhibition was today and so I thought it would be a good day to post up my final photos I used for it.
I took and edited the photos myself hence why if you see some mistakes or it doesn't look right..... =D hehehe im no expert on photoshop so no commento!
Thank you to my lovely model Sima, who never usually agrees to do something like this so it was a miracle when she did! And also thank you to my lovely assistant Anu, for helping me drag all the equipment to the location and also doing the hair and make up :]
I was so happy that on the day of the shoot, the rain actually stopped and the sun came out!! Which is the time when the three of us actually RAN! Haha

The title of my project was. Kumari, The Living Goddess.
Simple.
I wanted to take the concept of the Kumari and combining some western influences within the design. And what I mainly was looking at how a ordinary child gets transformed into a living goddess with a few garments and make up.
Won't write more here for now, because I will be writing about it in an article which will be out soon in the Nepali Patra!

OKAY SO HERE WE GO! Hope you like them!
Tried my best!

Here is what my space looked like, that bloody golden circle took a while and thankfully my friend helped! So thank you TOM!! I set it up as a shrine to her, with some traditional stuff layed out.

Hope you liked it and I shall be posting up the rest of the exhibition photos up soon!
So don't forget to come back and check them out!

✝ Black Cross Nails ✝

Aloha Darlings!
Been a while. =]
After weeks of no sleep and TOO much to do, I am FREE. Now I wait for results and concentrate more on other things. After celebrating my birthday I am currently in London relaxing and thought I would post up something I came across, an awesome way to do your nails which i'm sure you will LOVE or at least I hope you will. And tried to make up my own simple design. Quick and easy!
✝ Black Cross Nails✝ as the title implies.

Since my nails were in no condition to be even looked at I was lucky enough to have my cousins nails save the day! BEAUTIFUL long nails! =] PERFECT!
And all you need for this is any colour nail varnish really and a clear one to seal the deal.

And all you need for this is any colour nail varnish really I chose BLACK cause I am in london with out other colours and a clear one to seal the deal.
Oh and a pair of scissors!
Then the real trick revealed!!!!!
SELLOTAPE!

You can probably guess what you do but I shall explain anyway!

Using the black nail varnish paint it on the tape make sure its all equally painted.

After it dries cut the painted part off.
Then cut into further strips of the tape :]

You can paint your nails with other colours as a base if you want but I decided to keep it just clean.
Place a strip down the middle if there is any access, just snip it off without cutting your nail off.
Do it to all your nails. I guess you can keep it like this if you want. Reminds me of cat eyes. Hmm.
Then with another strip place across the strip you already have done making sure its a bit higher than the middle of course like ✝ this =] and cut off the access.
Then paint it with the top clear coat to seal it all together.
And that's IT!!!!
Easy right???

This ones just showing it with a colour underneath and of course having triangles cut out and put on as well. =] A great way to do all the tribal style nails that i've been seeing everywhere!!!
Might take a little bit to get the hang of it but once you get it wOO. Theres so much you can do with it! Playing around with the colours and all.
I just really love the simplicity of the crosses.
Hope you like this and defo try it out!

Other than that i've been dying to get a tattoo! and will be doing so soon.
I've been telling my cousin and recently for my birthday she got me this! Lol Till I get a real one I can always draw on myself =]

My next post will be up later this week!
Night All!!

All Wrapped Up

Aloha Darlings.
With summer fast approaching, winter wardrobes are being put away into the attic and summer being taken out. But one thing you shouldn't put away are your scarves that kept you warm.
A few years back while going through blogs, I had seen a simple wrap skirt being worn which needed no sewing!!!! I had actually forgotten about it until earlier this year and thought now might be a good time to start wearing it. Although they used plain jersey fabric which is good because of the stretch it will hug your body, I decided to use Pashmina shawls. =] I know most of the nepalese people have them. my mum had a cupboard full so I just took a few colours that I liked.  Its great for for a quick dress up, and for when you're headed to the beach!! Think it would look good on top of one piece or a bikini.
I've chosen just a simple White Tee and I have my necklace on which I thrifted (Blog post HERE), and i've worn my black bodycon skirt underneath but if you can go without it..GOOD FOR YOU!
But of course it doesn't just have to be for the sunny weather, you can wear it out with some tights or leggings and a nice pair of shoes.

If you don't have a pashmina shawl it's all good, just grab a normal scarf. It has to be wide enough to cover your backside LOL or just fabric which is about 2 meters long. And also you need a rubber band. That's about it!

 -How To-

Take your shawl and put it behind you while holding either ends at the front making sure you have eqal lengths.

Take one side first and wrap towards the opposite side.

Then take the other side and wrap it the other side. Make sure that the shawl is hugging your body and isn't too loose.
Adjust the shawl so that the front and back layer isn't twisted and is sitting flat. Then take both ends and wrap it round to the back.

Take your rubber band and tie the two ends together so that it is secure. You can hide the loose ends under the folds at a back to hide it but I just choose to leave it as it is. =]
And thats it! EASY PEASY!!!!

Good thing with pashminas is that some have such delicate beading on them and also beautiful patterns.  One which I loved is this pastel mint *on trend*  pashmina, it has small round mirror sequins dotted around the shawl and the beading on the edges adds more awesomeness! =]
